From Red Deer RCMP:

Red Deer RCMP have cleared the scene of a sudden death reported this morning in Coronation Park.

At this point in the investigation, RCMP do not believe the death is suspicious, and there is no risk to the public.

The deceased male is being transported to Calgary for autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Alberta, which has taken carriage of the investigation. 

The date for the autopsy has not been set yet.

Red Deer RCMP are working to notify the deceased man’s next of kin and will not be releasing further information at this time out of respect for that process.

Red Deer RCMP are on scene at Coronation Park for a sudden death investigation, after a citizen reported seeing a deceased male on an embankment by the north bridge in the park at 8:25 am today.

At this early point in the investigation, RCMP are not able to determine cause of death or whether it is suspicious or not.

Police have contained the area and members of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section are on scene conducting their investigation.

RCMP will issue an update when more information is available, and ask the public to avoid the area to give police officers room to do their work.
