From the City of Red Deer:

This Sunday, March 16th, 2019, all outdoor rinks in Red Deer will close for the season due to spring-like temperatures.

Starting on March 17, 2019 all rinks, including Bower Ponds, will close and signage will placed on-site advising the public to stay off the ice.

The ice oval at Setters Place will also put a cap on their first official season on March 15, 2019.

DebComfort, Neighbourhood Facilities and Sport Supervisor says, “after a very successful outdoor ice oval season, Setters Place at Great Chief Park will be transitioning back to a sport field. With several Canada Winter Games

long track speed skating records set at Great Chief Park this past season, we are already looking forward to next winter. Now it is time to let the ice melt and transition back to our summer season for football, soccer and rugby.”
