Red Deer RCMP have arrested a suspect in the January 22 stabbing in Riverside Meadows that sent a man to hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP identified a suspect shortly after the stabbing occurred and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

He was arrested by Calgary Police Service shortly afterward.

25 year old Christopher Andrew Munro faces the following charges:
· Criminal Code 268 – Aggravated assault
· Criminal Code 267(a) – Assault with weapon
· Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with condition of undertaking
· Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation order

Christopher Munro will appear in court in Red Deer on February 16 at 9:30 am.

At this time, no further charges are pending, but RCMP continue to investigate and will issue an update if more information becomes available.

 


 

Red Deer RCMP are investigating a stabbing that sent a man to hospital with serious injuries just before midnight on January 22.

RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood at 11:55 pm on January 22 and determined that a 34 year old Red Deer man had been stabbed at a residence after an altercation with two males and a female.

The victim was stabbed in the torso several times and is in stable condition in hospital.

RCMP do not believe this was a random attack and are working to confirm the identities of the suspects.
