Aspiring students of Red Deer College may have more option when choosing a program to study in the fall of 2018.

RDC is in the process of adding two more programs to their School of Creative Arts department.

Pending government approval, Animation and Visual Effects along with Film, Theatre, and Live Entertainment will be offered as four-year bachelor degrees.

Dean of School and of Creative Arts Jason Frizzell said it’s just another example of how the college is always seeking ways to be better.

“The college is committed, as most people in the community know, to offer the right mix of degrees. The more opportunities we have for students to come and complete credentials here at the college, makes it easier on families and easier on mature students.”

Representatives from the provincial government will visit RDC for an onsite review in December, with an answer expected to come shortly after.

RDC Student Ambassador Leadership Program

(RDC's Student Ambassador team.)

A student-lead leadership group at Red Deer College dedicated to growing skills in teamwork, problem solving, and public speaking is preparing students for when they enter the workforce.

The RDC Student Ambassador Leadership Program offers students a chance to fully engage in their post-secondary experience through workshops, volunteering and relationship building.

Second year student Patrick Ansay said it’s something that’s been extremely beneficial to him.

“Teamwork is number one. We doing team building once a month and from that we learn to work with other people to build new skills and work off that.”

There are three stages to the program beginning with being a volunteer, being a leader and being an ambassador.
