Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to identify and locate two men after they tried unsuccessfully to steal an ATM from a north side convenience store this morning, then abandoned the stolen truck they were driving and fled on foot.

RCMP responded to the report of an attempted theft of an ATM shortly after 8 am on April 12, after two men in a blue truck attempted to smash through the door of a convenience store on Golden West Avenue to steal the ATM.

Their efforts were not successful, and the suspects then abandoned the truck and fled the area on foot.

Citizens will have seen a heavy police presence in the Kentwood neighbourhood and into Normandeau as Red Deer RCMP contained the area and conducted a search for the two suspects with assistance from Police Dog Services.

Containment has been lifted again, and police continue to work to identify the suspects, who are described as:

Suspect 1 (driver):

· dark brown hair
· wearing a grey jacket with white lettering on the back, ball cap and blue jeans

Suspect 2 (passenger)

· fully masked face
· wearing blue jeans, black shoes, white lettering on the back pocket of his jeans, black jacket over a grey hoodie

RCMP continue to investigate.
