For anyone who still has their Halloween jack-o-lanterns sitting on their porch, hold on to them for a couple more days, as there will be a pumpkin round up this Sunday, November 4th, where they will be donated to the hungry animals at the Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary.

Organizer Cheryl Babiak says they will also accept any leftover vegetables you have from your garden, as long as they are still fit for animal consumption.

“As long as it’s not ‘rotten’ rotten right? The pumpkins also have to free of wax, no paint, no markers, no decorations on the pumpkin. They can be the leftover jack-o’-lanterns by all means, just no decorations left on the pumpkin. I don’t know exactly how many sanctuary animals they’ve got there on the farm, but I know every creature enjoys those leftovers pumpkins, and they last for quite a while as well.”

This isn’t the first time an event like this has taken place for the Sanctuary, says Babiak.

“We did a pumpkin collection a couple years ago for Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary out by Alix, and it was a huge success so we decided to do it again this year…even left over garden items that the sanctuary animals would enjoy”.

You can head down to the English Estates Centre parking lot on Sunday, November 4th from 1pm until 3pm, just look for the trailer from the Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary.
