On October 30th at 9:00AM an RCMP member assisted a female driver in a truck. Information about the incident was provided to Ponoka RCMP who determined that the truck was previously reported as stolen and efforts were launched to locate the truck in Ponoka.

Later at 10:35AM, officers received a complaint of an abandoned truck behind 54 Street in Ponoka. The responding members determined it was the same stolen truck that they dealt with earlier that morning.

Through investigation, RCMP discovered that a cheque belonging to the truck owner had been forged and cashed. RCMP canvassed nearby homes and located the suspect.

21-year-old Kailyn Diane Verquin of Red Deer was arrested without incident. She was given the following charges:

  • Possession of stolen property
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance and utter a forged document

At the time of her arrest she was wanted on arrest warrants from Red Deer, Blackfalds, and Sylvan Lake and currently remains in custody.

The stolen truck has since been returned to the owner of the vehicle.
