The Village of Clive had the opportunity last night to view the plans for an oil recovery project.

An open house was held for the public to get better informed on Enhance Energy’s plan to install underground pipelines transporting carbon dioxide.

The company plans on injecting carbon dioxide into depleted oil reservoirs in the area to extract any remaining oil.

Land owner Dave Tindal has no problem with the project, but said he’s not sure what to expect.

"I think they C02 under the ground is a good idea and as far as I know there's a fair bit of oil under there. It's not a bad idea, but it remains to be seen what happens," said Tindal.

Lacombe County Councillor Ken Wigmore believes this needs to be addressed across the entire country.

"I'd rather see our money be put into this than to be put into lightbulbs and why our provincial government and federal government wouldn't be investing more into this is a big question," said Wigmore.

Enhance Energy have yet to secure financial aid for the project, but representatives say they are close. Once they receive the financial resources, construction will begin.
