On January 31st, 2017 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a serious collision involving a semi-truck and a pedestrian.

The collision occurred just north of the intersection of Highway 2a and Highway 13 in the north bound lane.

Traffic flow was disrupted briefly while police investigated.

The 21-year-old man who was hit was transported by STARS from the Wetaskiwin Hospital to an Edmonton Hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.

The police investigation included witness information that the pedestrian was the cause of the collision.
