A session tomorrow night (Feb 16th) looks to address recruitment and retention challenges in Central Alberta when it comes to the need for volunteers to serve on boards, committees or in service groups.

Volunteer Central and The Leadership Centre of Central Alberta have heard these concerns loud and clear and they're hosting a panel discussion in hopes of identifying some ways to address the current struggles.

Pam Snowdon, Executive Director with Volunteer Central says they know there are generation gaps, knowledge and skills gaps and training gaps, and they hope to educate both potential and current volunteers as well as local organizations that need people to fulfill executive roles on a board of directors “people will be able to gain some insight or go home with some ideas that they can take back to their board on how to recruit new members, how to help with the skills development and training, where to seek that kind of skills development and training in our community. Also we’re hoping to identify gaps in the training that’s available in our community”.

Snowdon says they can use that direction to look at how to deliver those skills, knowledge and training back to the community.

The free panel discussion is set for 7 pm tomorrow night (Feb 16th) at the Red Deer County offices, RSVP by calling 403.346.3710, or an email to info@volunteercentral.ca
