For the past 3 days, the "Fill the Food Bank" Campaign has been on across Lacombe, in an effort to stock the shelves ahead of the thanksgiving weekend.

General Manager of the Lacombe Food Bank Millie Snow says they've received a good amount of fresh produce this year, which is pleasant surprise.

“We’ve been getting a lot of apples, I guess apples have been good this year. Apples, tomatoes, and fresh stuff which we don’t always a lot of, so that’s good.”

She says they've been handing out free stuffing and extra helpings on cranberries in the hampers this week, and now they are looking to stock things for kid’s school lunches.

“Juice boxes, fruit cups, granola bars, those kinds of things that we put into lunch bags.”

At the end of the day, the Lacombe Food Bank has collected about 868 pounds of food collected by Sunny 94, who was set up at Co-op, Sobeys and Lionel’s No Frills all this week collecting donations. They also raised $600 in cash donations.
