From Sundre RCMP:

On December 15, 2018 at 5:20 a.m., the Sundre RCMP, Sundre Fire Department and EMS were called to a motor vehicle collision on Hwy 27 near the Range Road 44 intersection east of the Town of Sundre where an eastbound pickup truck collided with a westbound car.

A 22-year-old male driver from Sundre, who was driving the pickup truck, was transported to a Calgary-area Hospital for his non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, 39-year-old Darryl Hyslop from Olds, AB was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Road conditions were favourable at the time of the collision.

Traffic in both east and west bound lanes were temporarily rerouted for the investigation and scene clean up but both lanes have since reopened.

Chinook Arch Victim Services has been engaged to assist with providing support to those affected.

Sundre RCMP will continue to investigate to determine the cause of the collision and alcohol consumption has not been ruled out.

"The RCMP would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Hyslop for their loss.  It is tragic at anytime to lose a loved one especially more so during the holiday season." Corporal Joe Mandel - Sundre RCMP.  An update will be provided when new information becomes available.
