The oil and gas industry is slowly rebounding, and if you need an example, you can swing by the Quality Inn in Red Deer this afternoon.

Calfrac Well Services says their workload has been picking up, and they're looking to hire on some staff to meet that boom.

Mary Oldcorn says Calfrac is being cautiously optimistic at this point.

"The trends so far are looking up. So I think it's a slow and steady improvement from where things were last year, and we anticipate things only to improve as we get into 2017."

Calfrac has reason to be optimistic though. It seems as though they've weathered the storm, and Oldcorn says they're alreading seeing an uptake in the workload they'll be having in the coming months. Hence the need to increase their workforce.

"So we anticipate we're going to be quite busy from now, right through until break up. We've got a number of positions available in Red Deer and Grande Prairie, so we want to bring people on and get them trained up so we can get them out there for a pretty busy winter season."

Oldcorn says they'll be doing on the spot interviews, and giving out some offer letters to selected applicants.

The job fair goes from 1:00 until 4:00 this afternoon at the Quality Inn Red Deer, they ask if you are going to bring a resume and drivers abstract.
