The removal of Ponoka’s old welcome signs has started with four new ones taking their place at the entrances on Highway 2A and Highway 53.

Four directional signs in the downtown area will also be installed along with new information signs featuring town maps and highlighting points of interest.

Mayor Rick Bonnett says the new signage will enhance visitor experience in the town “the visitors will have now easier ways to find the Arena and the Aquaplex, downtown, the Seniors Drop in Centre, the Kinsmen Centre.  It will give them easier access and hopefully it will bring some visitors in, they will find the facilities a little easier and maybe want to move here”.

Bonnett adds in total 14 new signs will be installed over the next couple of months including four new trail signs which will allow people who don’t normally use the trails a better opportunity to navigate them.
