There's a new ad-hoc committee at the Town of Blackfalds aimed at devising new ways to engage and speak with the public.

Councillor Will Taylor says its creation stemmed from what he saw as a disconnect between council and the public, during the election.

“I noticed when we were campaigning, how a lot of people lost that connection with council and I thought that was important for us to stay connected,” Taylor says. “And explore how we can do that because we always try to be an open and honest council.”

Three members of council will sit on the committee: Taylor, Marina Appel and Laura Svab.

As well, the CAO, marketing and communications manager and a communications officer.

The committee is expected to meet and report back to a future standing committee of council in January.
