The Lacombe Memorial Centre will be filled with natural health products and those who produce them today and tomorrow (Feb. 7/8).

Steve Jakeway is Director of Sales and Technology for Radient Technologies, a company featured at the conference, and he explains exactly what kind of products qualify as natural.

“Obviously they are products that are developed and manufactured with minimal imputes, so non-synthetic, primarily plant based materials for things like cosmetics, supplements, or food ingredients.”

The Natural Health Product and Functional Ingredients Industry Conference is a chance for those in the natural health products industry to get together and talk about their products and customer base, says Jakeway.

“It’s important for the industry to get together every once in a while and take a look at trends in the industry. Obviously one of the trends that is being dealt with in the industry is cannabis, another one is looking at ethnobotanical products. So what are some of the natural products within the local environment, and how can they be potentially utilized for cosmetics, supplements, or food ingredients.”

This is only the second time this type of conference has been held, with the first one happening two years ago in Edmonton.

Jakeway's company Radient Technologies, takes natural products and turns them into concentrated liquid extractions.

The conference opens this evening and runs all day tomorrow at the LMC.
