During April 5, 2017 thru April 20, 2017, members from the Ponoka RCMP Detachment conducted traffic enforcement initiatives in the Town and County of Ponoka to promote traffic safety.

Below are the results of our enforcement actions:

Hwy 53/Crestomere in the 30km/h School Zone:

  • 18 speeding tickets issued with the highest speed recorded at 96km/h in the 30km/h school zone.
  • Police also handed out tattoos to the kids on the school yard during lunch hour.

Hwy 53 and 42nd Street, in the 50km/h zone entering the east side of Ponoka

  • 35 speeding tickets issued with the highest speed recorded at 147km/h in a 50km/h zone.
  • This person will be appearing in Ponoka Provincial Court to answer for his actions.

RCMP conducting roving patrols in the Town of Ponoka and Ponoka County resulted violations of:

  • 3 speeding tickets
  • 7 intersection related tickets
  • 3 seatbelt infractions
  • 10 tickets for expired/improper documents

Ponoka RCMP would like to remind the motoring public to watch their speeds and obey all traffic laws.

Traffic Enforcement will continue to be one of the priorities for Ponoka RCMP Detachment members during the summer months.
