The Town of Bentley is coming together to honour one of their own.

Joslyn Snow was born and raised in Bentley, and passed away after a short and sudden battle with cancer this summer at only 27.

An active member of the community, she was a regular at the arena, as well as an educational assistant at the school.

Since her passing, the school set of a fundraiser to build a playground in her name, and the Monkey Top Saloon is holding a silent auction this weekend to help.

Crystal Seminuk from the Monkey Top says she was a major and well known part of the community.

“She taught CANSKATE, figure skating at the arena, she played hockey with the women’s hockey team, she was really involved in the community she was friends with lots of people…and everyone knows her family.”

They have currently raised almost $40,000 of their $500,000 goal.

The silent auction goes on Sunday from 10am- until 4pm at the Bentley Community Hall.

The Bentley School is also hosting a student versus teacher hockey game tonight (Friday, Dec. 8th) at the Bentley arena at 5:30.

Admission is a food bank donation or $2, with the proceeds going toward to the Joslyn Snow Memorial playground.
