From Lacombe Police Service:

On the 13th of February 2018, at approximately 11:25 PM, members of the Lacombe Police Service conducted a stop for a traffic infraction on a motor vehicle travelling eastbound in the 4500 block of 50 Avenue in Lacombe.

Through the course of investigation and search of the vehicle, Police uncovered 779 grams of suspected cocaine (street value of approximately $60,000),12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, cash and items commonly associated
to the distribution of illegal drugs.

As a result, the following subjects have been charged with offences under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Michael Alexander TYMCHAK (36 yrs of age) from Drayton Valley, Alberta with the following offences:

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking - One (1) count
· Possession of a firearm while unauthorized / no licence – One (1) count
· Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle while unauthorized – One (1) count
· Breach of a court order – two (2) counts
· Proceeds of Crime - One (1) count

Michaela Ann MARTIN (21 yrs of age) from Lindale, Alberta has been charged with the following offence:

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking - One (1) count

TYMCHAK was remanded in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for March 1st, 2018 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

MARTIN was released from custody with a court date also set for March 1st, 2018 in Red Deer Provincial Court.
