The Lacombe Health Trust is gearing up for their biggest fundraiser of the year, the 26th Annual Lacombe Hospital Charity Golf Tournament on June 14th.

The goal of this year is to raise at least $15,000, with that money raised going to help replace their fetal heart monitor.

Last year the tournament was able to raise that amount for the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre (HCC), which went to purchasing a third electrocardiogram (ECG) machine. This machine is used to perform a common cardiology test which measures heartrate activity to look for any potential abnormalities.

Jim Dixon is the Chair of the Lacombe Health Trust, and he talks about all the ways the Trust has helped the HCC in the past.

"Lacombe Health Trust is designed to take in dollars from our very generous community, and use them for projects within the community. That's our mandate...We bought things like ultra sound machine, operating tables, birthing beds, overhead lifts, bath lifts, we helped with getting some emergency department engineers studies done, and most recently last year we bought an EKG (ECG) machine".

Dixon says the Health Trust donates between one and two hundred thousand dollars every year for the HCC, with the golf tournament being the biggest single event fundraiser.
