Thanks to the Lacombe Firefighter’s Association and Fire Department, Natalio a city in Paraguay, will be receiving a face lift to their fire department.

The LFA and LFD have teamed up with the City of Lacombe and are sending over their retired Engine 1 fire truck along with two large crates of assorted equipment.

Deputy Fire Chief Drayton Bussiere said being able to help fellow firefighters across the world is something they are excited about.

“For us to be able to travel there and bring the knowledge we have over there and give it to them, is huge.”

“It really is just giving them access to stuff they wouldn’t have otherwise.”

Not only are they sending the equipment, the fire department will be sending over volunteers to provide training later this summer.

Lacombe Fire Chief Ed Van Delden said the more people he and his team can help, the better.

“They’ll acutally be able to go safely forward. As a Chief, ofcourse, that’s one of my primary responsibilities to ensure that happens in the community.”

“If I can see that happening beyond the community, I think it’s great.”

The Fire Truck will get shipped ooff to Vancouver on May 8 and is expected to arrive roughly 60-90 days from departure.

It’s the fourth year the Lacombe Fire Department has sent equipment to Paraguay and the third year sending over volunteers to offer training.
