For those of you who are fans of make it, bake it, grow it style farmers markets, prepare to get excited, as today marks the first official Lacombe Farmers Market at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

The event goes from 9am until 1pm today, as well as every Friday throughout the summer until October 9th.

A number of local vendors will be featured, as well as some coming from Edmonton and Calgary, and even the BC fruit trucks will be making an appearance.

The market will be both inside the curling rink and out in the parking lot.

Kit Glimm is the Manager of Lacombe Farmers Market, and she says the vendors are prepared for any weather condition, since everyone is unable to fit inside the curling rink all at once.

"There's a lot of people with big vehicles, and their not able to go inside. But they're pretty well equipped for any weather with all their tents and tarps. We go every Friday, rain or shine."

Every Friday morning starting at 9, all summer long.

Some other local markets kicking off this weekend include:

Sylvan Lake Farmer's Market, which runs Friday's 4-7:30 in a new location at the former water slide site on Lakeshore Drive.

Tomorrow Red Deer's public market is back, running every Saturday until Thanksgiving 8-12:30 at the Memorial Centre parking lot.

and Bentley Famer's Market runs Saturday afternoons 1:30-3:30 at the curling rink.
