If you're looking to stay active this winter, the Lacombe Cross Country Ski Club is actively seeking members for its second year in a row.

Last year the club welcomed 100 members and started laying tracks at the Lacombe Golf and Country Club.

This year they're hoping to add new trails around Elizabeth Lake and Lake Anne, as President Brent Bouwsema explains they're just hoping to add more options for all skill levels "the golf course is really great, but being a golf course there are hills and that can be really intimidating to some people.  We've tried to mitigate that by providing some alternate routes but there still are some major hills that people find a little bit intimidating.  So we are looking for areas that are maybe a bit flatter with a little bit longer distance".

Bouwsema says they're also looking for new company sponsorships "we need money in order to operate, we can work with the present equipment we have only because someone is volunteering their time and their equipment.  Ultimately we would like to have our own equipment.  If we could have some company sponsorship they can come on board with us and we can provide them with some advertising."

There hasn't been enough snow to start grooming yet, but the club is hoping to have the trails open as soon as they can.

If you're interested in becoming a member there's a $10 dollar fee and memberships can be purchased at Ski Lacombe.
