Lacombe County is seeing some familiar faces in new positions this year, as long time County Commissioner Terry Hager has retired.

Lacombe County Reeve Paula Law worked with Hager for the last 7 years, and says he always had the best interests of the county in mind.

“Terry was absolutely excellent to work with. He was great at forward thinking, he always maintained Lacombe County in the forefront of a lot of things. There were so many great initiatives he was a part of, I wouldn’t even know what the top ones would be. He was proud of getting the wastewater line under highway 2 to the west side of Lacombe going before retiring.”

As of January 1 of this year, Tim Timmons officially took over as County Manager – a new title for the County Commissioner position – to provide advice for Council, direction for staff, and guidance on County matters.

Tim joined Lacombe County in 2000 as Manager of Corporate Services, following a successful career in municipal government as an intern with the Town of Sundre and Chief Administrative Officer for both the Municipal District of Wainwright and the County of Stettler.

Tim’s focus on providing exceptional customer service is enhanced by his many years of working in the oil and gas services industry prior to entering the field of local government.

Law says Tim’s has been preparing for this role since last fall.

“Tim has had a very busy year, he started taking over and doing some of the things and getting up to speed on a bunch of initiatives and in a number of different areas well before Terry left.”

Replacing Timmons is Michael Minchin, who has worked as Manager of Corporate services since last November, and was formally the Director of Corporate Services with the City of Lacombe.
