With four of seven Lacombe County Councillors set to return for another four years, following their acclamation on Monday, there’s a good chance council won’t look too different come election time in October.

Of those, guaranteed back is current Reeve Paula Law (Division 4). Law has spent the last seven years on council and the last four years serving as reeve.

She said it’s both an honour and a privilege to earn her seat back on council for the next four years and believes the future is bright.

“We had the signing a couple of weeks ago with the City of Lacombe getting that waste water (agreement) underneath the highway, while development seems to be going well. We’ve got a great agricultural area with a lot of partnerships with different municipalities.”

“I think we have a lot going for us.”

Brenda Knight (Division 2), Barb Shepherd (Division 3) and Dana Kreil (Division 7) were also elected by acclamation.

Law said there's still a lot of work that needs to finished, but is happy with what they've been able to get done so far.

“We accomplished a number of things. We got our agricultural plan out, we finished our land-use bylaw, our municipal development plan and we finished some inter-municipal development plans.”

“There were a lot of things we did this last term and I’m very proud of all our council and all of our staff.”

Rod McDermand (Division 1), Ken Wigmore (Division 5) and Keith Stephenson (Division 6) are all seeking re-election.

McDermand is up against John Ireland, Wigmore is up against Denise Summer and Stephenson is up against Robert Szasz.

Following the municipal election on Oct. 16, Lacombe County Council will hold their annual Organizational Meeting on Oct 24, where they’ll elect their reeve.
