The Alix Arena Association received some financial help from Lacombe County, regarding their recent repairs to the Alix Arena roof.

Vice President of the Alix Arena Association Marcy Henry couldn’t have been happier when Lacombe County council approved her request of $20,000 yesterday afternoon, to help pay for the upgrades to the roof.

In total, the project costed $63,850.50, with the Village of Alix contributing $20,000.

Henry said the repairs were much needed and is grateful to the County.

“It’s been two or three years coming and it’s been leaking quite a bit so it was time to get it refinished. Rather than redoing the whole metal sheeting, we decided to put this coating on and hopefully that stands up and keep it going for a few more years.”

Henry said what made the repairs extra important was how special the arena is to the community.

“That building is very essential to the community, it’s busy and kids love it so it’s nice to keep it going and hopefully we can keep it going for a lot longer.”

The Alix Arena Association covered the remaining amount of $23,850.50. The project is already complete.
