Boston Pizza here in Lacombe has once again topped up the donations to the Cops, Pops, and Pizza event held there back on October 27th.

It's where members of the Lacombe Police Service, as well as local Special Olympians, help serve, with all money raised going towards those athletes through the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

They added an additional $1,000 to the amount raised during the event, with all proceeds going towards local Special Olympic Athletes.

CAO of Lacombe's BP's Natalie Reglin says the event is fun and exciting for staff, customers, and of course the Special Olympians who helped out.

“We were very fortunate that we were able to top up the donation of a $1,000 directly to the Central Alberta Torch Run. So they managed to raise that ($1,602.00) in about three and half hours, they had a great crew here and alongside our team, they had a lot of fun that night doing the fundraiser.”

Lacombe Police School Resource Officer Cst. Jeff Hewit says this event is nothing but positive for everyone involved.

“Actually everyone that came in was great. A lot of people were surprised to see us helping to wait tables and stuff, but it was a really good interaction with the community. And for us as law enforcement, usually we are on the negative end, so it’s a very positive event to be helping out with.”

In addition to the restaurant's donation, the total raised from this year's Cops, Pops, and Pizza event was $2,602.
