Awards were handed out last night to those individuals and organizations who helped impact and mentor youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe.

Nine individuals and two organizations were honoured including Big Brother of the Year Gord Little, Big Sister of the Year Katie Camp and Joey and Marti Ingram won couples match of the year.

Marti says their match Aly has become like family "watching my little grow and mature and gain confidence and just turn into a young woman it's been an honour.  She was 10 when we first started meeting and she's going to be 15 pretty soon, so it's been a big chunk of her life and our life and she's got to see our kids grow up".

Rylan Zens and Brooke McBurney were awarded teen mentors of the year from Lacombe Composite High School.

McBurney says it's been a great program to be apart of and she loves spending time with her little "just watching our match kind of grow closer and just being able to open up and have fun together and just spend time and laugh".

JC Levenne and Jeff Khremer were also recognized from Blackfalds as Big Brothers of the Year for In School Mentoring, along with Louis Ring being awarded for Big Sister of the Year.
