Red Deer Catholic Regional School has received a $15,000 grant from the Family and Community Support Services. The money will be going towards St. Maguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School in Innisfail to enrich the school’s Family School Enhancement Programs.

“This generous grant will allow us to continue providing support to all our families. We will continue to focus on the mental wellbeing of our school community with the help of our Family School Enhancement Counsellor,” said Principal Kelly Jacobson at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School.

The program offers in-person support groups through classroom cohorts or virtual programs for students and their families both in and outside the community. The program offers the following services:

  • Support services to families and children facing social, emotional, and family challenges
  • Building skill with students in small groups
  • Promoting effective communication between parents and their children
  • Assisting families in finding information about resources such as counselling, income support, and community programs
  • Promoting preventative opportunities within the school and community
  • Providing support in the school and in the home
  • Collaboration with communities’ agencies
  • Organizing family evens and parent sessions
  • Enhancing Catholic family values by building home, school, and parish

St. Maguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School opened their doors in 2003 and serves over 10,000 students.
