As the designs are close to being completed, the Innisfail Kinsmen Club has started the fundraising process, to bring a new skateboard park to their community.

At a total cost of $650,000 the Kinsmen have had help from the Kinette's, Legion, Rotary, and Lions clubs to reach 18% of their goal.

Kinsmen Russ Klemmer says it was key to have input from the skateboarding community during the design process.

“I think the last thing the skateboard community wanted was a group of you know 40 and 50 year olds trying to pick out what they really wanted in a facility. So we had a couple different meetings where they provided their feedback and ensured it was going to be something they were going to be proud of moving forward.”

Klemmer says they'll be hosting a number of fundraising events this year to reach their goal, including their Weekend of Wheels Car Show in September, and their 41st Annual Kinsmen Auction.
