They also responded to another grass fire in a treed area near the Abbey Center early Tuesday night.

Fire Chief Robert Côté points to dry conditions.

“With this warm weather things are starting to dry out, that poplar fluff is highly flammable as well, making the conditions starting to deteriorate as far as the fire hazard”.

Red Deer Emergency Services also tended to a brush fire early last night (May 23rd) on the north end of the city, just south of Glendale School.

Côté says they'll be watching the forecast closely as they consider restrictions.

“If it stays dry and windy, you can see a fire ban coming on”.

Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Service still has a fire advisory in place, which cancels all permits but does allow for safe campfires.

CRFRS notes fires may soon be restricted if conditions don't improve.
