Deep appreciation is being expressed following a recent stop by Alberta Education Minister David Eggen at Father Lacombe School.

Parents with the Parent Council at the school extended an invitation to Eggen to tour the facility, and he took them up on that offer last Friday (Nov 3rd).

Assistant Superintendent with St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools, Kevin Booth says there's some needs at the school they've been working to get on the province's radar.

“Father Lacombe has been our Boards top capital priority for almost 2 years now and it went through value scoping process and after the value scoping, parents requested the Minister come for a visit, and he was visiting our building to get a firsthand look at how the building is, it’s a 60 year old building and we are looking for a modernization of that school going forward”.

Father Lacombe has experienced substantial growth, currently there are just over 220 students enrolled in the K-9 school.

Booth is blown away by the efforts of the Parent Council.

“Unbelievable. They really are in many ways they are a model school council for the province, they work incredibly well with the administration of the school and vice versa, and they are just so focused on what’s best for kids and wellbeing for kids”.

Booth says Eggen engaged with students and staff in classrooms during his tour and it was a pleasure to have him.
