Lacombe County will chip in to help the City of Lacombe with the cost of a new roof for the curling rink.

Last fall leaks into the curling rink were discovered, they were linked to damages sustained in a 2015 hailstorm, unfortunately the 2 year window the city had to file an insurance claim had come and gone.

County Reeve Paula Law says they know county ratepayers use the facility and they're willing to pay their fair share to help maintain it.

“Sometimes these things do pop up and we recognize that our ratepayers use these facilities, I think we’re just like the city, we’re a little concerned that it was missed on the insurance, but it is what it is and we approved our share of it”.

Yesterday County Council approved up to $108,500 dollars for the roof replacement, which the city anticipates will come with a total cost of about $350,000.
