Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to identify a suspect who is believed to have passed counterfeit US currency several times over the past few days through multiple trips to local businesses.

The same suspect was seen in a local grocery store on three different occasions between February 21 and February 22, passing counterfeit US $50 bills, and RCMP are sharing a surveillance photo of the suspect with hopes that the public will be able to identify him.

The counterfeit currency appears to be colour photocopies on good quality paper, and some bills have been cut carelessly.

Serial numbers on multiple bills seized by RCMP are as follows: MG56216684A and MG56922425A.

Please see attached photo of the seized bills.

RCMP encourage anyone who deals with cash to scrutinize bills before accepting them, and to educate themselves about the security features on Canadian and US currency by visiting www.bankofcanada.ca and https://uscurrency.gov/.
