A group of five women have decided it’s time for them to give back to the less fortunate, by pledging to give a quarterly donation of $100 local people, groups or charities.

Now they need help from others to make the contribution to locals even greater.

The 'Give, Share, Care' campaign is to create a group of like-minded women who want to do good things in the community.

Debra Grabo is one of the original five women, and she could donate $100 to an organization four times a year and that would be great. But, she says if 100 women can give $100 at their meetings which are held quarterly, they could raise $40,000 a year for the community.

“The point is to get as many women together as we can so we can make a big impact quickly, I can donate my $100 to a charity but if I get a hundred women together that all of a sudden becomes $10,000.”

The biggest part of their plan is to look closer into the community and find those organizations or families that need help right here. Grabo says global funding is also important but adds those that are close to home might be struggling just as hard.

“Everyone is always looking for charities to support, or people come to your door and you make an impact globally, but there is so much that we can do local, and we're looking to make the biggest difference in our local community.”

The 'Give, Share, Care' girls have their first meeting coming up on November 28 and are hoping to find other community-minded women to join them. They also hope to find more nominations before their first meeting so they can start their journey very powerful.

“Of course, the more people that join the bigger impact we can make,” says Grabo.

Grabo says this is also an opportunity to meet other women who have similar interests in Lacombe and district.

Meetings are intended to be very short and there will be time to socialize before and after.
