The City of Lacombe says snow plows are in full force over the next few days clearing roads after the Christmas break.

Because of the way Christmas fell this year, Director of Planning and Operations Matthew Goudy says there were five days services were reduced but plowing and sanding did continue.

"Guys will be hard at it over the next few days and weeks trying to get everything cleared and eventually move into those residental areas as well to try and get all the streets cleaned in the community," Goudy said.

Tomorrow, crews will start at 5am and clear the following roads:

- 50 Ave (Hwy 12) from Hwy 2A to 45 St.

- 49A Ave - 54 Ave from 5-way stop to 58 St.

- Woodland Dr. from Maple Bay to Cedar Cr.

- Section of road from #18- #74 Terrace Heights Dr.

Goudy says sidewalks adjacent to your property are the responsibility of the home owner.

"There are sidewalks and trails the city is responsible for and provide clearing Mon. to Fri. and not on statutory holidays," Goudy said.

Garbage and recycling pick up days have also been affected. Collection that was supposed to take place yesterday is now being done today and collection scheduled for Jan. 2nd will now happen on the 3rd.

Goudy adds there's a 24 hour public works after hour’s line (403) 782-3880 that you can call if you have any concerns and they do have someone on call.

More information regarding plowing routes and garbage pickup can be found on the City of Lacombe's website.

Calls regarding garbage can also be directed to the Office of Operations & Planning (403) 782-1261.
