The City of Lacombe held their first strategic planning meeting since 2014 last week, where they suggested long term strategies to help build their vision for a prosperous Lacombe now and in the future.

CAO Matthew Goudy says for the new councillors, this was a chance for them to their ideas to paper, and figure out ways for everyone to work together to accomplish their goals.

“They definitely came with open minds, I think council was excited about clarifying a vision and really getting something that everyone can get behind and will drive the agenda for the next three and a half years.”

Goudy says a lot of the ideas from councillors were directly from what their heard from residents while on the campaign trail.

He goes on to say that the last time Lacombe sat down for a strategic planning meeting was in 2014, and it helps previous council stay on track.

“It had about 40 items and I think last council and administration had completed approximately 36 or 37 of those strategic actions that were identified in the plan. So it certainly does guide the organizations actions with council’s endorsement.”

Goudy says they are still in the beginning stages of the plan, and the public will get their chance to provide input soon.
