On the heels of a subdivision application, the City of Lacombe has approved the rezoning of some land behind Wolf Creek Cabinets on the City's north end, near the intersection of Highway 2A and 63rd Avenue.

The subdivision would create 2 lots accessible from 63rd Avenue which will become a Neighbourhood Commercial District according to City Director of Planning and Operations, Matthew Goudy.

“The current owner, Laebon, has some plans for imminent development, so they want to make sure that’s going to fit on the site. There is a host of many, like well over a dozen, permitted uses. We’ve talked to them about the idea of what we call neighbourhood commercial, possibly a convenience store, it could be something like a local medical clinic, that kind of thing, but that’s up to that developer.”

The land had been zoned a residential district, the rezoning changes also add a greenspace district. The bylaw amendment received its 2nd and 3rd reading at City Council last night.

Managing Partner for Laebon Homes Steve Bontje says they are in the beginning stages of planning, and have no details yet on what will be built there.
