On June 9, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on the Montana First Nation following an altercation.

A male victim suffered stab wounds and was transferred via STARS to an Edmonton hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested a 17-year-old male youth a short time later for aggravated assault and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was remanded into custody and his next court appearance will be in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on June 21, 2017.

Maskwacis RCMP along with the Maskwacis Crime Reduction Unit continue to investigate.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be available.
