Changes are expected to come sooner than later in how Lacombe City Council is run.

The Procedural Bylaw, a bylaw that’s put in place guidelines regarding how council conducts business, is being reviewed.

Some of the possible changes include the length of meetings, agenda availability to the public and regulating the use of recording devices by council, administration, the public and press.

Part of his platform when he ran for mayor, Grant Creasey would like to see the recording of all votes made by council.

“It just speaks to accountability. As I’ve stated before, I have no problem in bringing forward the voice of council as a whole once a decision is made, but up until that point, everybody needs to be responsible for the way they voted on any given issue.”

Another change it may see said Creasey is moving council meetings from Monday to another day in the week.

“It was brought up for a variety of reasons. I don’t know if any them have really proved to be accepted by council. Monday’s do often fall on holidays so I guess it would help alleviate some of that.”

“I think on Tuesdays there are only three a year affected, but then again, in an effort to try to make things more efficient, we asked the question.”

The bylaw will be reviewed once again in the upcoming weeks and brought back to council where changes will likely be made.
