On Sunday October 22nd at approximately 6:30 pm Penhold Fire Crews responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 2A between Lucina Street and Hawkridge Blvd in Penhold.

A car had struck a light standard.

According to the Penhold Fire Department, the driver of the vehicle refused treatment and a youth was extricated in serious condition and transported to hospital in Red Deer.

The vehicle had to be removed in order for Fortis Alberta to disconnect the power.

The highway was shut down for about 2 hours.

5 vehicles and 19 firefighters responded.

RCMP are investigating.
