On December 19th 2016, at approximately 815 am Innisfail RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at the intersection of Hawkridge Blvd and Hwy 2A.

An 11 year old child was crossing the street on his way to school when he was struck while in the cross walk by a vehicle travelling north bound on Hwy 2A.

The 79 year old driver was uninjured.

The child sustained non life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical care.

RCMP are investigating and charges are pending.

At approximately 08:17 on December 19 Penhold Fire Crews responded to a person hit by a vehicle on highway 2A and Hawkridge Blvd in Penhold.

Penhold Fire Department acting Fire Lieutenant Bailey McKay said" there was a young male on his way to school who was struck by a car receiving serious injuries.

McKAY went on to say that the child was in the crosswalk with the lights activated when he was hit".

He was transported to hospital by EMS.

Innisfail RCMP are investigating.

RCMP also charged 1 vehicle driver with an offence related to passing emergency vehicles.
