Starting this week, Operations staff with the Town of Ponoka will be removing beaver dams along the Battle River.

The work will help mitigate any spring flood risk that could be caused by the dams.

Those dams are located across from the IGA near the walking bridge and south of Highway 53 between the highway and the trestle bridge, as well as along some smaller streams that branch off the Battle River south of Highway 53.

Signs and barricades will be posted to let you know where work is being done, you're advised to stay clear when work is underway.
