What does the Battle of Vimy Ridge mean to you?

The Lacombe and District Historical Society is out with their first ever online survey, as they start work on an exhibit commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Executive Director Marie Peron says the exhibit will teach people about one of our Countries greatest moments.

"It's going to be a wonderful introduction to those who don't know much about Vimy, and the significance to Canadians. As well as what it has meant for our Country over the last 100 years. I think our community values heritage, and has a very active and engaged Legion. So I think it's a wonderful opportunity to engage the youth and people of all ages with these anniversaries."

The Society wants to hear from everyone, young and old, about what the battle means to you.

Peron says it's all part of the Society's Canada 150 Community Memory Project.

"The survey specifically is looking to capture the significance of the battle of Vimy Ridge. We plan to have an exhibit up at the Lacombe Memorial Centre during the month of August, and September. It will be called Reflections on Vimy, so it will be including some of the information we collect in this survey, and some more about what happened at the battle itself."

The survey will remain open until April 14th, and a hard copy is also available at the Flatiron Museum.
