Over the next 7 days, the Town of Ponoka will see 80,000 visitors.

They'll all be there for what President Blair Vold says is one of the "must-go" events in rodeo: the Ponoka Stampede.

According to Vold, some of the world's top talent in rodeo is going be there, as well as a series of chuck wagon races, as both Calgary and Ponoka are considered two of the triple crowns* of professional chuck wagon racing.

"We're a happening spot in the rodeo world!" he explained.

Vold also says the Stampede is a chance to showcase western living, at a low cost.

Non-hookup camping is free during Ponoka Stampede week, and there is free shuttle service available.

Dry camping is $20/day, power only is $28/day, and full hook-up is $30/day. For more information you can contact the campground at 403-783-5611.
