R-C-M-P in Saskatchewan say they have found the body of a missing seven-year-old girl who had been the subject of an Amber Alert.

The alert was issued by police overnight after Nia (NYE'-uh) Eastman was not returned to her mother.

Police say Nia's father, Adam Jay Eastman, was found dead earlier in the day from self-inflicted injuries.

Officers found the little girl's body in a home not far from the scene.

Police say they are trying to piece together what happened after her father picked her up from school yesterday.

Investigators say they are not looking for any other suspects in the case

 


RCMP say the father of a 7-year-old girl who is the subject of an Amber Alert in Saskatchewan has been found dead.

The girl, Nia Eastman, has not been found and the Amber Alert remains in effect.

Police say Adam Jay Eastman, who was 45, was found on a rural property with self-inflicted injuries in northeastern Saskatchewan.

They say there is no indication there is anybody else involved in Nia's disappearance.

Nia, who is described as Caucasian with blond, shoulder-length hair, was to have been returned home to her mother by 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Police are using dogs and drones in their search for Nia, but are asking the public to keep looking for her as well.


Mounties in Saskatchewan are searching for a 7 year old girl, whose disappearance has triggered an Amber Alert.

Police at Nipawin say Nia Eastman is believed to be with her father, Adam Jay Eastman, after the child was not returned to her mother around 7pm last night.

A vehicle thought to have been driven by the dad was found late last night on a rural property near Snowden, northeast of Saskatoon, but there was no sign of Nia or her father.

The area is being searched, but police say they don't know where Adam Eastman is headed, or if he has access to a second vehicle.
