Update: April 25th, 4:00pm: The High water level alert has ended for Red Deer County.

-------

Update as of 2:44pm, April 24th: County staff are continuing to monitor and report river levels. At this time, the problematic ice jams that trap massive volumes of water appear to have dissipated but river levels remain high.

As of 3:00 pm April 24, the voluntary evacuation of Silver Lagoon subdivision is rescinded but the boil water advisory for Silver Lagoon and Red Lodge Estates remains in effect until further notice.

In some locations overland flooding is being caused by blocked or frozen culverts or sheer volume of runoff. Residents are advised to notify the County of any blocked or frozen culverts that are causing drainage issues or may cause issues in the near future.

The County has made sandbags available at the Markerville community hall and at the Spruce View Fire Hall for anyone who made need them.

Motorists are reminded they should not bypass or move barricades. They should also refrain from travelling on roads covered by water as there may be unforeseen hazards.

County staff remain in the field around the clock evaluating conditions and determining operational requirements.

Residents should continue to call Red Deer County Centre at 403-350-2150 if your home is impacted by flooding or if you find an unmarked hazard. Road closure locations and further updates are being posted at www.rdcounty.ca as they become available.

The County will also post notifications on Twitter as they become available
