About 40 high school students from across Canada are set to take in the Humanitarian Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Conference.

Communications Specialist Jacqui McCarty says youth involvement has been a big focus for A Better World co-founder Eric Rajah and their goal for the 3 day event is simple, to support very capable, intelligent and passionate kids, who are already in tune with what the world needs.

“It’s just been very, very inspiring to see what young people do and how passionate they are about making the world a better place.  High School kids creating huge fundraisers, some schools that work with us have raised over $100,000 over the last several years for projects with A Better World, so we’re really, really focused on empowering youth to make the world a better place”.

She notes many underestimate what kids are capable of, and they hope to tap into that spirit and give them the skills they need to make an impact.

“We want to make sure that they are able to do everything that they would need to do to actually start a campaign, or a project, or even just a local initiative to help people depending on their interest and where their heart is for helping people”.

A number of speakers and workshops are planned Friday (4th) through Sunday (6th) at Burman University, including a talk by Azalea Lehndorff who as a student helped launch A Better World's 100 classroom project in Afghanistan.
