On the 11th of February at approximately 6:26 pm Lacombe Police were notified of a motor vehicle collision involving one vehicle and 2 children on a sled.

Further investigation found that the accident had occurred at approximately 5:00 pm when a vehicle was driving along the roadway in Parkland Acres Trailer Park when two young children who were using a sled to slide down a snow hill onto the roadway came over the hill into the path of the vehicle and were struck by the vehicle.

Both children were transported to the Lacombe hospital with the 8 year old receiving minor injuries and after receiving medical attention was subsequently released.

The 6 year old had more significant injures and as a result was transported to an Edmonton Hospital via STARS.

Update received on February 13th that the 6 year old remains in an Edmonton Hospital with non life threatening injuries and should be released in the next few days.

Police say that poor visibility was a contributing factor in this collision as the snow hill and sledding area were obscured by large metal garbage bins and trees.
