From Wetaskiwin RCMP:

Following an early morning collision on Highway 13, Wetaskiwin RCMP have two adults in custody for dangerously driving a stolen vehicle.

On December 19, at 7:36 a.m., the Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision just east of Hwy 13 and Hwy 2 intersection. 

Investigation indicates that a west bound truck crossed the centre line and struck an east bound SUV. 

The truck was later determined to be stolen out of Beaumont.  Both occupants of the truck involved in the collision fled the scene.

The driver of the SUV was treated and released on scene for minor injuries.

Wetaskiwin RCMP with the assistance of the Maskwacis RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Air Services were able to locate and arrest a female and male after an extensive ground search of the area.

Both have been charged with numerous offences including

  • Dangerous Driving
  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5000
  • Possession of Break in Tools
  • Obstruction
  • Numerous breaches stemming from prior release conditions.

The male and female remain in custody awaiting Judicial Interim Release Hearings.
